The Mighty Oaks

From Seedlings and Little Acorns, Mighty Oaks grow.

Our Mighty Oaks class is for children aged 3½ to 5 years, a crucial year of growth, as they prepare to transition into Reception.

Located across the road in The Arc, a bright, airy, and inspiring space within the church grounds, this setting provides the perfect environment for our growing children to thrive. With its sense of openness and calm, The Arc offers an exciting new chapter in their Acorn journey.

Building on the confidence and independence nurtured in earlier stages, The Mighty Oaks supports children as they become more self-assured, expressive, and capable learners. Children are encouraged to take ownership of their learning, sharing their likes, dislikes, and ideas, helping to shape our topic-based curriculum.

Each day includes focused learning time, where we consolidate skills in Literacy, Mathematics, and General Knowledge, alongside rich opportunities for creativity, exploration, and play. Our curriculum is guided by the seven areas of learning from the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), ensuring we support the whole child socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually.

Our Forest School programme is introduced at this stage, with sessions taking place in Holland Park. These outdoor adventures nurture resilience, teamwork, and a deep love of the natural world, key elements in developing confident, well-rounded children.

A cherished Acorn tradition continues in Mighty Oaks: Register, a weekly gathering where children sing The Acorn Songs, take part in Show and Tell, and welcome parents to join in. This special time strengthens the link between home and nursery, giving families a window into their child’s learning and growing confidence.

Mighty Oaks is the final step before Reception, a year filled with laughter, learning, and discovery, where children develop the independence, curiosity, and enthusiasm they’ll carry with them into school and beyond.
