The Seedlings is our dedicated nursery class for our youngest children, aged 2 to 2½ years. Located on the ground floor of The Acorn Nursery, this cosy and nurturing space is thoughtfully designed to provide a calm and welcoming environment, perfect for those taking their very first steps into nursery life.
At this tender age, our focus is on building secure attachments, developing a strong sense of belonging, and gently encouraging confidence and curiosity through play. Each child has a key teacher, a familiar and trusted adult who supports their individual journey and helps build those vital early relationships.
Our daily rhythm includes free-flow access to our garden space, giving children the freedom to explore the outdoors and connect with nature throughout the day. Music is a magical part of The Acorn, and in The Seedlings, children are introduced to the joy of singing through our much-loved Acorn songs, a fun and memorable way to build language, confidence, and community.
We begin to introduce the Acorn Golden Rules, helping children learn how to be kind, gentle, and thoughtful members of the group in ways that are appropriate and meaningful for their age.
Healthy habits start early, and we encourage families to support this by bringing in a piece of fruit or vegetable each day, which is shared together at snack time to promote a sense of community and positive food experiences.
With gentle routines and warm, experienced staff, The Seedlings offers a joyful and reassuring introduction to nursery and early school life. Every big journey begins with a small step—and in The Seedlings, those first steps are taken with care, encouragement, and joy.
